Diesel Fuel Injection

The purpose of the fuel injection system is to precisely manage the timing, atomization, and other aspects of the fuel delivery to the engine cylinders. Pump-line-nozzle, unit injector, and common rail are the three primary varieties of injection systems. Modern injection systems use sophisticated electronic control techniques and may achieve very high injection pressures.

Ignition

The ignition of fuel in a diesel engine is caused by the high temperature of the air in the cylinder made by mechanical compression. In common rail fuel injection is a direct fuel injection system. It features a high-pressure pump delivering over 1000 bar or 15,000 psi of fuel pressure to the joint rail assembly, which then provides constant high-pressure fuel to each injector.

A solenoid valve on each injector controls the delivery of the high-pressure fuel to each cylinder precisely. Common Rail Diesel fuel injection systems are highly sophisticated and can be very sensitive to fuel contaminants.

Air & Fuel System Parts

The purpose of the fuel system is to store and deliver fuel to the cylinder chamber so that it can be combined with air, turned into vapor, and burned to produce energy. A fuel tank, which can hold either gasoline or diesel, is the fuel. A fuel pump pulls the fuel from the tank through fuel lines, passes it through a fuel filter on the way to either a carburetor or a fuel injector, and finally delivers it to the cylinder chamber for combustion. 

Fuel Injectors

Fuel injectors managed the volume of fuel delivered to the combustion chamber, ensuring the proper amount is injected at the proper time. The fuel pump forces petrol or diesel through the fuel lines and into the injectors.
